Investigating Effective Teaching Strategies in Multi-grade Classrooms in Iranian Primary Schools

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate effective teaching strategies in multi-grade classrooms of primary schools. Given that students' levels of education vary across grades, different teaching-learning strategies are needed to make teaching effective. The method of the present research is qualitative, descriptive-analytical and the method of data collection is library and textual research. The literature and background of the research subject were studied by referring to scientific-research articles and other articles, books, in the field of teaching in multi-grade classes. The findings of this study show that each child enters the classroom with unique abilities, needs and characteristics for learning. This means that the teacher needs to develop and implement teaching strategies that enable him / her to address the needs, capacities, interests and abilities of each child.Getting to know students is time consuming, but a multi-grade classroom teacher can make the classroom unique for student learning; In this regard, there are countless effective strategies, approaches and points, some of which are: using appropriate and flexible content, using learning commensurate with the speed of each student, paying more attention to students who need special education, teaching All groups work together, teaching on one level while the other bases are working independently, teaching a subject to all levels with different difficulty levels, developing activities for groups that are not taught, and so on.
